A very strong start for Team Rileys with Brucey taking out a top finish against Harry Roberts in frame 1 and Jason King DOB’ing on debut against an unlucky James Ruffell. Replay came back into the game to sneak the next two, more tactical frames. Walker was given a second chance versus Phil Clarke in frame 5 and punished him remorselessly before back-to-back defeats for the Jones against Tony White (who finished well after a big slice of fortune) and his Alty team mate Mark Beeson, on debut for Replay – a great positional shot from the Beast onto his last ball which was fraught with danger! Brucey brought it back to 4-4 with another nice clearance, this time against Delboy before Steve Pardner and Dave Walker sealed wins over Ruffell and White to take us to the brink of victory. Replay showed character though through star men Robinson and Clarke who sealed the draw. All in all a very enjoyable night with top banter and some decent pool thrown in for good measure. Rileys had good chances to win but I’m sure we would have settled for a draw at the start of the evening against the 7 times champs.
